LPG Storage

LPG can be stored in several methods depending on the requiremnt and the availability of space.

Bulk LPG storage.

There are two major types of LPG storage.

1. Bulet type LPG storage tanks.

The safe bullet type LPG storage tank with all the accesories.

Discription of the accesories.

1. Liquid outlet valve.
The valve is to take the liquid out and then a vaporizer is used to make the vapor.

2. Vapor Outlet /Vapor blow valve.

This is to take out the natural vapor from the tank.

3.Safty valve.
As discussed earlier the LPG vapor pressuer increase with temperature to avoid the tanks being blasted off the safety valve will operate in a specified pressure rating.
4. Pressure gauge.

This is to measure the pressure of the tank.

5. Temperature Gauge.

This is to measure the temprature of the tank.
The temperature is a importent function of LP gas tank, where we have to calibrate the tank accordence to temprature.

6. The Float level gauge.
The liquid level is indicated in the float level gauge.

7. 85% gauge.
This is a fixed gauge where we fix to make sure the tank is not filled above 85%, The tank isnot filled above 85 % as a safety step.

8. Liquid inlet valve.

The valve is used to fill the tank with LPG.
9. Vapor balencing valve.

The vapor balencing valve is to balence the pressure of the LPG road tanker and the LPG storage tank. This is not needed if the road tanker has a unloading pump.

10. Sprinkler.

This a cooling method to avoid the LPG tanks heating and to avoid The Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion (BLEVE) effect.

As the picture discribs the tank can have a bulet shape and in reality the tank looks in the below shape.

This type is used for limited amounts of storage capaciys where I will talk about how the tanks designed in latter posts. max capacity of bullet type which I have seen is

2. Sphere type LPG tanks.

The other type of LPG storage is Sperical.

  5. An underground LPG storage tank is a discreet and efficient solution for storing liquefied petroleum gas below ground. These tanks are typically used in residential areas, industrial sites, and commercial settings where space above ground is limited or aesthetic considerations are important. Underground tanks offer the advantage of being hidden from view while providing the same safe and reliable storage capacity as their above-ground counterparts. Constructed from corrosion-resistant materials, these tanks ensure long-term durability and safety.
